We are currently seeking a Preparedness Managing Associate. This is a full-time, remote role with travel required to client sites. The ideal candidate should have a passion for emergency management, be a self-starter, and have the desire to solve complex preparedness problems for our clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support project initiatives for federal, state, local, tribal, and/or private sector clients related to emergency management and homeland security, including assessments, plans, training, exercises, and evaluations.
- Support project management activities by mentoring and coaching direct reports and peers, conducting resource planning, and monitoring compliance with project controls and requirements, including to include ensuring that work products are developed for Hagerty clients in accordance with the firm’s professional standards.
- Contribute to the development of tools, approaches, and resources to help build and share expertise across projects, geographies, and focus areas.
- Contribute to the maturation of the Division’s service lines, including identifying emerging issues and trends where Hagerty may be able to support new and prospective clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The desire to help communities and organizations prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural hazards, such as hurricanes and wildfires, and human-caused disasters such as infrastructure failures and active threat incidents
- Between three (3) and six (6) years of experience in emergency management, public safety, economic development, resilience, public health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint).
- A functioning understanding of emergency management processes and policies at the local, state, and federal levels, including knowledge of the FEMA programs and frameworks, including the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), and other federal preparedness guidance documents and policies.

- Demonstrated ability to serve as a team player who can establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders; has a can-do attitude and is willing to pitch in where needed to assist team members, hiring managers, and division leaders in pushing critical initiatives over the finish line.
- Experience researching complex issues and presenting outcomes and insights to a client, supervisor, or large audience.
- Consulting experience at the federal, state, and local levels of government, universities, and/or private sector.
- Experience serving in a leadership capacity for projects and serving in a supervisory capacity for people, building teams, and providing constructive feedback to team members.
- The ability to be flexible and demonstrate integrity, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in all endeavors.
